    Is CloudPe Right for You?

    Choose CloudPe if:

    • Your workloads have grown beyond what a developer-first platform was built to handle
    • You need GPU compute running NVIDIA H200, H100, A100, L4, and RTX Pro 6000 in India, on demand, priced in rupees
    • Your data needs to stay in India and your provider has no Indian data centre
    • You want equivalent or better compute at Rs. 1,182/month vs Rs. 4,080 on DigitalOcean, INR billed, zero egress fees
    • You need 120+ L2/L3 engineers available 24/7 with under 2 hour resolution

    Choose DigitalOcean if:

    • You are a small team building and testing products that are not yet at enterprise scale, not GPU-dependent, and not subject to Indian compliance requirements

    Why Indian Businesses Choose CloudPe

Purpose-built for India — the infrastructure, compliance, and support that DigitalOcean can't match.

GPU Compute — Available in India

DigitalOcean offers no GPU instances in its Bengaluru DC. CloudPe has H200, L4, and RTX Pro 6000 GPUs across Indian data centers for AI/ML workloads.

    4 More India Locations

DigitalOcean's single Bengaluru DC means high latency for users in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai. CloudPe's 5 DCs ensure <5ms latency across all major Indian cities.

    Regulatory Compliance Built In

DigitalOcean is not RBI-compliant, making it unsuitable for fintech, BFSI, or any regulated Indian business. CloudPe meets RBI, SEBI, and DPDP requirements by default.

    INR Billing, GST Invoices

Pay in INR and receive proper GST invoices. DigitalOcean bills in USD, creating accounting overhead and 18% GST-on-OIDAR complications.

    What Indian Regulations Actually Require

For Indian businesses, where your data is stored is a legal decision. Here are some compliance requirements you need to follow.

    No India Data Centre

DigitalOcean does not operate in India. The closest regions are Singapore and Frankfurt. For Indian businesses processing personal data of Indian citizens, storing that data outside India creates compliance exposure that grows harder to justify as DPDP enforcement matures.

    DPDP Act 2023

Cross-border data transfers are permitted under specific conditions but require documentation, consent frameworks, and contractual safeguards. CloudPe's India-first infrastructure removes this entirely. Data does not leave India. There is no cross-border transfer to document.

    RBI Compliance

Fintechs, payment aggregators, NBFCs, and banks must store payment data in India. DigitalOcean cannot satisfy this requirement. CloudPe can, and does, for financial services clients already on the platform.

    SEBI and IRDAI

A platform without an India data centre creates an audit conversation no compliance team wants to have. CloudPe eliminates it.

    Common Questions

We have used DigitalOcean, it is simpler to use. CloudPe might be more complex.

CloudPe is built on OpenStack, which is developer-friendly and well-documented. The portal is designed for teams who want control without complexity. VM deployment takes 60 seconds. Kubernetes is managed. Storage is S3-compatible. If your team can use DigitalOcean, they can use CloudPe, with more capability available when they need it.

We use DigitalOcean Spaces for object storage.

CloudPe's object storage is S3-compatible, which is the same standard DigitalOcean Spaces is built on. Your existing tools, SDKs, and integrations that work with Spaces work with CloudPe storage without modification. At Rs. 3.10 per GB, the pricing is significantly lower.

DigitalOcean has a strong community and marketplace which is missing in CloudPe.

That is true and worth acknowledging. If your team relies heavily on DigitalOcean's one-click marketplace applications, those specific marketplace integrations do not exist on CloudPe. Standard open-source tooling and self-managed applications work normally. What CloudPe offers instead is direct engineering support that the DigitalOcean community forum cannot replicate when something breaks in production.

We do not have Indian compliance requirements right now. So there is no need to switch our cloud provider.

Regulatory requirements change faster than infrastructure does. DPDP enforcement is ramping up. RBI guidance on cloud adoption for financial entities is tightening. Building on India-hosted, India-governed infrastructure now means you are not scrambling to migrate when a compliance deadline hits.

Migrating from DigitalOcean feels like a lot of work. We are not looking for additional efforts from our end.

DigitalOcean to CloudPe is one of the more straightforward migrations because both platforms use standard cloud tooling and APIs. CloudPe's team handles the environment setup and migration in parallel with your live DigitalOcean setup. You switch over only when everything is validated. For most standard workloads, the migration completes in days, not weeks.

CloudPe vs DigitalOcean — Common Questions

Yes. CloudPe offers free migration assistance for DigitalOcean workloads. We handle the Droplet image conversion, network configuration, and DNS cutover. Most migrations complete in 24–48 hours.

DigitalOcean Spaces is S3-compatible, and so is CloudPe Object Storage. Your existing S3 SDK code will work with CloudPe — just update the endpoint URL and access credentials.

DigitalOcean is not RBI-compliant and lacks India-specific regulatory frameworks. CloudPe is purpose-built for Indian compliance — RBI data localisation, SEBI, and DPDP Act requirements are met by default, no additional configuration required.

For small teams, CloudPe offers comparable or lower pricing in INR. CloudPe's entry VM starts at ₹350/mo, while DO's cheapest Droplet is $6/mo (~₹500). And with CloudPe, you get 24/7 support on all plans, which DO charges extra for.

    Switch from DigitalOcean to CloudPe
